Uster has been booming for years. The transformation from a former village cluster through industrialization to residential city is visible in many places and in many different ways. New collides with old. Obsolete infrastructure can be found as remnants of traditions and hopeful transportation planning. This photo project illuminates the third-largest city in the canton of Zurich in a beautiful, critical, and (self-)ironic way.

Architekt und Fotograf, Uster, 1968

Kaspar Thalmann, geboren 1968 in Uster, ist seit 1995 als selbstständiger Architekt, Gestalter und Fotograf tätig. Nach einem Studium der Architektur an der ETH Zürich Mitarbeit an einer Monografie über das in Betonelementen erbaute Atelierhaus von Max Bill in Zürich-Höngg. Er lebt und arbeitet in Uster. www.kasparthalmann.ch
