Grass on caterpillars (Sports 2017, by Karin Hofer) - Swiss Press Award

This year, the Swiss Grass Ski Association is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The Swiss Grass Ski Championships took place in Marbach (Entlebuch) on the weekend of September 10th and 11th. Races included slalom, giant slalom, and Super-G. Grass skis consist of a tracked system with wheels. The technique is similar to alpine skiing, but a larger surface area is needed in the finish area to allow for a smooth turn. Ideally, the grass should be 5-10 cm high. The youngest participant was 11 years old, and the oldest was 32.
