Composer David Haladjian's grandfather escaped the Armenian massacres perpetrated by the Young Turks at the beginning of the 20th century. David Haladjian himself grew up in the Soviet Union, where, despite the threat of reprisals, he campaigned for the recognition of the Armenian genocide. Even today, as the director of the Maur Choir, he continues to fight against forgetting the genocide.
