Lost Generation

Klaus Petrus

Not long ago, Elizabeth Araba had a home, her husband and children, a few cows, and a thatched roof. Now, the 85-year-old crouches on a wooden bench in a foreign country, her hand shaking, her eyes restless: "I want to go home." Elizabeth is one of 1.5 million people who have been forced to flee war and poverty from South Sudan to Uganda since 2017.
