The turn

Klaus Petrus

Kathy Messerli experienced violence at an early age; she was raped, abandoned her apprenticeship, and attempted suicide. Eventually, she was jobless, living on the streets, and addicted. Therapy and training as a tour guide at Surprise brought about a turning point. "I had already gotten used to life on the streets. Today, I have a supportive environment," says Messerli.
