83 million.

Klaus Petrus

Every year, 83 million farm animals are slaughtered in Switzerland. Although we still hold the image of small-scale farming in our minds, factory farming has long been a reality here as well: 18,000 chickens in a single shed, 10 pigs in an area the size of a car parking space, without straw or outdoor access their entire lives, is no longer the exception, but the norm.
