A symbol of counterculture, Burning Man is losing momentum because this is the first time that unsold tickets have gone unsold. Launched in 1986 in a San Francisco square, Burning Man owes its name to the wooden, human-shaped statue that is burned at the end of the event. Held annually for almost 40 years, the festival is now held in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada. USA
