The Basel-Landschaft Chamber of Commerce has been the canton's center of power for decades. It set the political agenda, "made" government councils, and passed laws. "Switzerland on Sunday" exposed this network and its workings. The Chamber of Commerce is under pressure. Its director was not elected to the National Council, and the public prosecutor's office and the Swiss Federal Office for Economic Affairs (SECO) are scrutinizing its business practices.
