The 23-year-old man with the pseudonym "Carlos" is one of Switzerland's most notorious criminals. He now faces incarceration. How did it come to this? In my two-part article, I trace the downward spiral the young man has fallen into. In a letter, "Carlos" speaks for the first time about his situation and what incarceration would mean for him.

1982 in Männedorf geboren. Studium der allgemeinen Geschichte, Geographie und Ethnologie in Zürich. Abschluss 2010 mit einer Lizenziatsarbeit zur Naturdarstellung in historiografischen Quellen des 1.Kreuzzugs. Im Herbst 2010 Volontariat bei der Neuen Zürcher Zeitung im Ressort Zürich und Region. Anschliessend Mitarbeit im Reporterteam der NZZ. Im April 2011 Eintritt in die Nachrichtenredaktion der NZZ, daneben weiterhin Mitarbeit im Reporterteam. Seit Dezember 2013 Redaktor im Ressort Zürich und Region.
