They live in New York, Rio, Tokyo, the winners of the Grammy Awards – I thought. And I was proven wrong: Swiss sound engineer Daniel Weiss lives in the same housing estate as me in Uster. Far from the glamour and glory, he received his Grammy in the technology category here – by mail. And he didn't say a word about it until I read about it in the newspaper.

Journalist, Uster, 1973

1973 geboren und aufgewachsen in Gossau ZH, machte ich meine ersten journalistischen Gehversuche nach einem abgebrochenen Anglistikstudium 1995 beim Anzeiger von Uster. Nach vier Jahren Printjournalismus und dem Grundkurs am MAZ wechselte ich 1995 zu TeleZüri, wo ich sechs Jahre als Videojournalist arbeitete. 2005 Stellenantritt beim Schweizer Fernsehen, wo ich unter anderem für Glanz&Gloria, 10vor10, Schweiz aktuell, Tagesschau, Einstein, Netznatur und Reporter im Einsatz war. Seit mittlerweile 23 Jahren drehe ich praktisch alle meine Beiträge ausnahmslos selber als Videojournalist. Nebst meiner journalistischen Arbeit werde ich auch als Ehemann, Vater von Zwillingen und im Haushalt auf Trab gehalten.
