In 2015, just over 1 million refugees arrived in Europe via Turkey. The EU was overwhelmed and sought cooperation with Turkey. Several summits with Turkey took place at the beginning of 2016. During this time, I visited Lesbos, Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria and wrote a lengthy report on the refugee crisis.
