The Eagles of Death Metal were playing at the Bataclan in Paris on November 15, 2015, when terrorists stormed the club and killed 89 people. Just weeks later, they were back on stage in Zurich. I was free to photograph everywhere and experienced a band that sought solace, hope, and numbness in rock 'n' roll and in their interactions with their fans—sad, defiant, and with a great deal of American optimism.
