Blackpool is considered a socially distressed area. Distinguished travelers generally avoid the city. But in August, punks from all over the world flock here for the annual Rebellion Festival. Like Blackpool, the once revolutionary punk movement has long since passed its prime. Both seem somehow out of date and broken, in a way that is both charming and depressing.
