The aim of the editor and the infographic was to present the simple topic of "the City of Zurich's budget" in a new way, so that it can be conveyed more impressively to the reader and can bring out the quantities, comparisons, and connections.

Michael Rüegg absolvierte zwischen 1991 und 1995 eine Lehre als Typograf, bevor er die Matura auf dem zweiten Bildungsweg nachholte. Danach studierte er Geschichte, Kunstgeschichte und Philosophie an der Universität Zürich. Ab 2005 begann er neben dem Studium für den Tages-Anzeiger als Infografiker zu arbeiten. Weitere berufliche Stationen: Die Wochenzeitung, der Züritipp und die Finanz und Wirtschaft, entweder als Layouter oder Infografiker.
