At the beginning of the year, heavy snowfall caused several avalanches in the Alpstein. While some damaged the Säntis cable car on the front side of the Säntis, avalanches also hit the back. The secretive people of Appenzell wanted to keep this to themselves and quietly began to clean up. However, the traces of the violence were clearly visible: several alpine huts were destroyed.
