Caracas is considered the most violent city in the world. The violence and the crime build an integral part of daily life for the people living in the poorest neighborhoods of this city and provide the youth with a lifestyle to be imitated but also with a way to survive. In this sense, the delinquency turned into a subculture which the inhabitants have to contend with.

Ronald Pizzoferrato (geboren 1988 in Caracas, Venezuela) ist ein venezolanischitalienischer visueller Künstler und Fotograf. Seit 2014 wohnt er in Bern, Schweiz. Seine Werke sind das Resultat einer längeren designethnographischen Recherche mit visuellem Schwerpunkt. Pizzoferrato dokumentiert und untersucht soziale Phänomena und Konflikte in seinem Heimatland Venezuela. Zusätzlich arbeitet er an internationalen Projekten mit Bezug auf Identität, Migration und sozialer Entwicklung. Pizzoferrato schliesst momentan seinen Master of Arts in Design mit Spezialisierung in „Trends & Identity“ an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) ab. In seinem Masterprojekt fokussiert er sich auf die Interpretation und das Dekodieren der Semiotik von Caracas hinsichtlich der Gewalt. Er fragt sich, wie Gewalt die Gesellschaft seiner Heimatstadt beeinflusst.
