After a year of following the protests that rocked Hong Kong in 2019, I wanted to give a voice to the protagonists of this leaderless movement. In this article, my three characters recount their political awakening, their first steps on the streets, police violence, their slow radicalization, and their fears about the introduction of a new, repressive security law.
