A parish on the edge of the world

Françoise Funk-Salamí

Juaanna Platou is a pastor in what is almost the northernmost church in the world. The Qaanaaq congregation in northern Greenland is five and a half times the size of Switzerland, but has only 800 inhabitants. Pastoral counseling is an important part of Platou's work. Alcoholism and violence are among society's biggest problems. Many children are neglected, yet they are the future.
