The opening of military archives has made accessible the files of men lost in the Great War. Surprisingly, Switzerland indirectly participated. Thousands of men voluntarily left to fight and die in France. We have compiled an interactive database and, in a special notebook, recounted these forgotten Swiss and this unknown episode in our history.

Erwan Le Bec

Of Breton origin, grew up in Payerne in the Broye region. Trained as a historian and archaeologist at the University of Lausanne. Since 2014, he has been a journalist in the Vaud and Regions section of 24heures. Specializing in environmental issues, investigations, and heritage issues. Since 2025, he has been responsible for historical topics for Tamedia's French-speaking titles.
