Karin Wenger

Karin Wenger (born 1979) studied social sciences in Fribourg, Ireland, and at Birseit University in the West Bank. From 2004 to 2009, she worked as a freelance journalist reporting from the Middle East, after which she worked for an NGO with refugees on the Syrian-Iraqi border. From 2009 to 2016, she was SRF's South Asia correspondent in New Delhi, and from 2016 to 2022, her Southeast Asia correspondent in Bangkok. She is the author of four books, including "Checkpoint Huwara – Israeli Elite Soldiers and Palestinian Resistance Fighters Break the Silence" (NZZ Libro, 2008). "Forbidden Songs – An Afghan Singer Loses Her Homeland" (Stämpfli Verlag, 2022), "Jacob the Prisoner – A Journey Through the Indian Justice System" (Matthes & Seitz Verlag, 2022), "Until the Next Monsoon – People in Extreme Situations" (Stämpfli Verlag, 2022). Since summer 2022, Karin Wenger has been sailing the world's oceans on her sailboat Mabul, writing about marine topics and island stories.
