In 1986, Beny Furrer suffered a serious motorcycle accident. He sustained severe head injuries and lost his left arm. Despite slim chances of survival and extensive surgeries, Beny Furrer competed in the Engadin Ski Marathon just ten months later. He also participated in the extreme cycling race "Race Across America" several times.
