Blatten in his darkest hours

After weeks of waiting (05), the unthinkable happened on May 28, 2025: A rockslide (01) on the Kleines Nesthorn (02) destroyed the village of Blatten (03/06). Enormous masses of rock piled up on the Birch Glacier (04) until it finally broke off and buried the village. Mayor Mathias Bellwald (09) and hotelier Esther Bellwald (07), like many others, lost all their possessions.
