Cardboard cutouts as fans

The fans are there, but much quieter than usual: the Swiss football championship resumes on 19 June – but the stands must remain empty because of the pandemic. To give the “ghost-games” more of a friendly atmosphere, GC offers its fans “almost life-sized” cardboard cut-outs of themselves. These will go in the stands of the Letzigrund stadium in Zurich during home games. This is their debut, just before the match against Aarau, the first since the Covid-break. The campaign’s tag-line is “GC doesn’t believe in ghosts.” Notwithstanding the absence of a living breathing audience, Zurich win 5-0.
