The punishments imposed on the Assad regime have cut the Syrian population off from the world. Everything was smuggled. Nescafé was especially popular. It promised a small taste of normalcy. And in a country like Syria, which has experienced so much war, torture, and death, normalcy is perhaps the feeling people yearn for most. A visit to the smugglers' village.
