Around 12,000 Polish soldiers were interned in Switzerland during World War II. The authorities forbade them from meeting Swiss women. The result: denunciations, women who lost their citizenship, and children who never knew their father. In this timeline, I ask why Switzerland issued this ban. And why many unpleasant aspects remain unresolved even today.
