On the Basòdino massif, at 2,500 meters above sea level in the Bavona Valley, the glacier is rapidly thinning. Measurements indicate losses of up to one meter per year, and according to glaciologist Giovanni Kappenberger, increasing heat and scarcity of snow could lead to its disappearance within the next five years.
