The gold rush in Senegal—small-scale miners and large multinationals—is causing violence and delivering little benefit to the Senegalese. Much of this gold ore is sent to Switzerland for refining. A weeks-long investigation traces this route from Kédougou, in western Senegal, to San Marino, on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, via Dakar and the Federal Court in Lausanne.
