2015In order to link the two sides of the Tamina Valley for traffic, the largest arch bridge in Switzerland is currently being built. However, work on the Tamina bridge is only suitable for those with a head for heights. In fact, the work setting is 200 metres above the valley floor. The construction method for the bridge is also unique. In the so-called “Freibauverfahren” (free construction process) the entire structure is held aloft by steel cables alone. For the construction workers, this project is a major challenge. Curdin Fliri’s report documents the spectacular construction method of the Tamina bridge in this tributary of the Rhine Valley near Bad Ragaz.
