Lo spesso strato di ghiaccio che ricopriva il passo di Tsanfleuron, tra il ghiacciaio Scex Rouge e il ghiacciaio Tsanfleuron almeno dall'epoca romana, si è completamente sciolto. Dopo un inverno secco, le ondate di calore estive che hanno colpito l'Europa sono state catastrofiche per i ghiacciai alpini, che si stanno sciogliendo a un ritmo accelerato.
