Participants travel on an SBB train through the western tube of the Gotthard Base Tunnel on the occasion of the first journey through the NEAT Base Tunnel from Bodio to Erstfeld, on Friday, August 30, 2013. A premiere at the Gotthard: For the first time, a train traveled through the new base tunnel. Representatives of the companies involved in the shell construction, project developers and the consortium responsible for railway technology, as well as media representatives, traveled from Bodio in the canton of Ticino to Erstfeld in the canton of Uri. Participants traveled the 57-kilometer route not only by train, but also by bus and on foot, as AlpTransit Gotthard announced on Friday, August 30, 2013. It will take about 1,000 days until the world's longest tunnel is ready for operation, according to the press release.

Geboren 1973 in Sion (VS). Nach der Schulzeit im Wallis absolvierte Gaëtan Bally ein Austauschjahr in San Diego in den USA, um Englisch zu lernen. Anschliessend Fotografen-Lehre in Sion mit Berufsschule in Vevey (VD). Bereits während der Lehre regelmässige Aufträge für die Zeitungen «Le Nouvelliste», «Le Nouveau Quotidien» und die Bildagentur Reuters. 1994 bis 1997 Fotograf bei der Agentur ASL in Lausanne. 1997 bis 2002 Fotograf bei der «Neuen Zürcher Zeitung» in Zürich. Seit 2002 Themenfotograf bei der Bildagentur Keystone in Zürich, mit einem Teilpensum von 90%. Daneben freie Auftragsarbeit für verschiedene Magazine und Unternehmen.
