Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to participate in the 2014 Swiss Journalism Award. I would like to submit an article I wrote for Le Matin Dimanche about the repeat murderer Claude Dubois. He is currently in prison awaiting trial. Claude Dubois killed Marie in May 2013 in Payerne (VD). This tragedy shocked Switzerland. Just a few days later, an informant told me that the killer had contacted his victim online. Several weeks of investigation allowed me to confirm this information: Claude Dubois had indeed met Marie online. My investigation allowed me to go further. Under probation since August 2012, Claude Dubois spent hours online. He maintained several blogs to meet young girls and invite them into real life. By analyzing this virtual correspondence and the testimonies of Internet users in Switzerland and Europe, I attempted to portray Claude Dubois's online personality. I also wanted to raise public awareness of the potential dangers of the Internet. Claude Dubois and Marie's blogs are part of the criminal investigation file. Dominique Botti
