After a chance encounter in early July 2023, I had the opportunity to spend a day with Simone Cilluffo. He is a falconer and operates a team of birds of prey to sustainably repel pigeons and crows on the Novartis campus in Basel. This is considered more cost-effective and environmentally friendly than cleaning the paths and squares on campus of bird droppings.
