They do it out of conviction: scavengers feed themselves from retailers' waste. It's their way of criticizing the throwaway society. Rolf and Sara are scavengers. They get their food from the garbage. Not because they're poor. They have a political message: We throw away too much food. And they're right. According to a UN study, around one-third of the world's food ends up in the trash. Worldwide, 1.3 billion tons of food are produced for free every year.
