Photo: Joseph Khakshouri: September 15, 2015: On the refugee train, Rajab Heydady (70) from Kabul, Afghanistan, has been traveling with his family for a month with three generations. The youngest of the six-member family is his grandson Abbas (4 months). His father hopes that little Abbas will grow up to be a good man. They want to go to Cologne because of the war in Afghanistan. First change in Freilassing, Germany. Train 2 with 866 refugees on board. No one knew where the train was going. The most frequently asked question was "Munich? Stuttgart?" In the end, it turned out that it was going to Stuttgart. Beiern (Germany)

Destination Unknown: With refugees from Salzburg Austria to Germany

Joseph Khakshouri

876 people during a stage of their long flight to Germany and northern Europe. Amongst them is little Lena with her mother and 10-month-old brother Esam. Even smaller is Abbas, from Afghanistan, whose family is travelling with three generations. On September 15, 2015, the day takes its course at Salzburg’s main station. When the first trains for Munich arrive, the refugees wait in front of the escalators, some of them in vain.
