The Gingolese photographed

Celine Michel

On my own initiative, in 2009 I began a photo-reportage on Saint-Gingolph, a small village located on the French-Swiss border. This work resulted in the publication of a book and was published in two media in the fall of 2013. I worked on this subject for 4 years, in my free time. My desire was to understand how the inhabitants of this village, crossed by a river and cut in two by the border, live their daily lives. I noticed that the villagers, despite the border, form a single community. In four years of reporting, I got to know the Gingolph residents and discovered the charms of a vast territory that stretches from Lake Geneva to the Alpine peaks.
