Israel – Strange Normality

Meinrad Schade

Israel: My approach is to include the ENTIRE territory over which Israel more or less exercises its control. This includes, in addition to the Israeli "heartland," the walled West Bank, with its Zones A, B, and C, which literally disappears from view. This spectrum of images is intended to demonstrate, among other things, how two population groups live very close to one another but are separated by a complex, sophisticated system and rarely come into contact. A complicated situation that is difficult to describe and for which stereotypical patterns of interpretation do not do justice.
