The heated debate surrounding adoption and procreation amongst lesbian and gay couples continues unabated. Two men who formed a civil partnership in 2009 and live in Ticino, dare to take the plunge and tell their story. Thanks to two surrogate mothers (one woman donated her eggs, the other carried the children to term), with whom they maintain contact, they became the parents of twins, who are now five years old. It had been a long and bumpy road beset with obstacles and doubt, starting with the impossibility of an adoption. In California they were finally able to achieve the good fortune and happiness they now share with their children. These days they worry about the same things as “normal” parents, and the same normality extends to their interactions with the parents of their little ones’ classmates.
