Home: Rwanda resisted 20 years after genocide.

Kristian Skeie

This story is about Révérien Rurangwa, now a Swiss citizen, living in la Chaux-de-Fonds, coming back to Rwanda to see his old friends and what is left of his family. In April 1994, he was hiding in a small building next to the church in his village, Mugina together with 43 of his nearest family members. They were all killed, apart from Révérien. He was though, left severely scared including losing an arm and an eye. This is part of my long term project on Life After Genocide in Rwanda and in Bosnia. Part of this was published in Nikon Pro (last issue) and part of this is prepared for publishing in the coming months.
