ISIS fighters, who had conquered Mosul two months earlier, attacked the Yazidi villages of Girzarek and Siba Sheikh Khidir (August 3rd. 2014). The Yazidis had been protected by Kurdish Peshmerga forces but was left defenceless to ISIS’ mercy. It took four hours to defeat the Yazidi's; they did not have enough arms to resist the Jihadis. I visited in June 2016, 6 month after Sinjar was liberated.
