Farmers that where subsisting, on manioc and plantain had now a valuable light weight product in their hands, made with less effort that the buyer came to look for at their doorstep. It also meant the loss of a relative tranquillity with the arrival of the drug war and its consequences

With National Liberation Army (ELN) rebels once again resorting to violence, peace in Colombia is under threat. Switzerland, meanwhile, continues to support implementation of the 2016 peace agreement.
