The coca plant for cocaine production is planted deep in the jungles of the Guaviare; arrived in the 1980ies and changed the economy of the region. Farmers that where subsisting, on manioc and plantain had now a valuable light weight product in their hands, made with less effort that the buyer came to look for at their doorstep. It also meant the loss of a relative tranquillity with the arrival of the drug war and its consequences
