The Flumserberg resort area now also wants to use the literary character Heidi to promote their area and draw an additional 200’000 guests. The intention is to invest 100 million francs into various projects. The people from Maienfeld are not at all pleased. While the Flumserberg camp insist that there is enough Heidi to go around; the Maienfeld faction hits back: word on the street is that it’s a joke, an impertinence, Heidi was created in Maienfeld, so that is where she belongs. What further complicates the matter is that the Flumserberg and Maienfeld resort areas both technically belong to the same tourism marketing region: Heidiland. At this stage the Flumserberg projects have yet to secure any investors, so this story definitely remains one to watch.
