In mid-July, the low-pressure system Bernd caused flooding in Lucerne. The water level rose to 434.94 meters above sea level on July 16, 2021, remaining a few centimeters below the peak of the once-in-a-century flood of 2005. Preventive measures kept flood damage relatively low.
