Geboren 1981 in St. Gallen absolvierte Florian Bachmann nach einjährigem Vorkurs an der Schule für Gestaltung eine Berufslehre zum Fotografen in St. Gallen. Er arbeitete danach über neun Jahre als freischaffender Fotograf und nebenberuflich als Verlagsleiter des Ostschweizer Kulturmagazins Saiten (2002 - 2005) und später als Bildredaktor für die WOZ und diverser Buchprojekte. Seit 2007 ist er im Medium Film künstlerisch tätig. 2015 Abschluss des Studiengang Bachelor Arts in Film an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Seit 2016 arbeitet Bachmann mit einem Pensum von 50% als Fotograf bei der WOZ.
