A landslide in Glarus South buries a district

The landslide on August 23, 2023, at the Wagenrunse gorge in Glarus South is considered an extreme natural event. Of the 112 people evacuated, 46 lost their homes permanently. 25 employees lost their jobs. 44 buildings with 25 apartments were destroyed or had to be demolished. The Plattenaugasse no longer exists. Today, a protective dam stands there to prevent further events.
