Following the capture of al-Fasher in Darfur, the RSF rebel group carried out mass shootings in Sudan in October 2025 and attempted to cover their tracks. Little information leaked out, but videos and satellite images revealed the extent of the ethnic cleansing.

Seit April 2022 produziert Pascal Burkhard als Mitglied der Videoredaktion der NZZ hintergründige Erklärvideos zu aktuellen Themen. Zusätzlich ist er als selbstständiger Videojournalist tätig. Vor seiner Zeit bei der NZZ arbeitete er über fünf Jahre lang als Video- und Datenjournalist beim Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen in Zürich. Davor war er während seines Studiums der Politikwissenschaften an der Universität Zürich bereits als Datenjournalist bei der NZZ und als Redaktor der sozialwissenschaftlichen Online-Plattform DeFacto tätig.
