Member of the Jury Swiss Press Photo
Enric Martí (Barcelona, 1959) left law studies to pursue journalism, beginning his career in Nicaragua with AFP during the Sandinista regime. In 1992, driven by a need to document, he travelled to Sarajevo, which he considers the true start of his career. Covering the Balkan wars for EPA, he later joined AP in 1994. Martí worked as senior photographer in Cairo, then in Jerusalem as Chief Photographer during the Second Intifada, and later directed AP’s photography in Latin America. Since 2018, based in New York and Barcelona, he is AP’s deputy director of photography, overseeing Pulitzer and major award photo entries.
