2015It all started with a mass brawl involving roughly 40 adolescents in Lausanne, in January 2014. Is violence part of the daily life of the young people in our seemingly peaceful Swiss cities? Pascale Burnier, who is following members of the Brigade de la Jeunesse, the youth offence police team, takes us straight to the place where most conflicts occur: the school gates at the end of the day. In the head’s office 15 year old Julie is seeking refuge from being beaten up. Although violence is the second most common form of juvenile delinquency, after theft, the juvenile courts are concerned by the increase in cases of sexual assault amongst adolescents. The journalist allows us to witness a confrontation between teenagers and their judge.
