On Dirty Thursday, the "Räbehegel" (Räbehegel) open the Klingnau carnival. These two costumed figures drive students from their classrooms into the town. There, the children are allowed to throw cabbage sticks at the two masks—but only if the Räbehegel turn their backs on them. Otherwise, the Räbehegel chase the children with whips.
