Portrait of Nikita (People 2026, by Mark Henley) - Swiss Press Award

Mark Henley
Nikita is a 22 year-old Ukrainian refugee from war-torn Zaporizhzhia, photographed shortly after his arrival in Switzerland, immediately following the changes to martial law that allowed young men to leave Ukraine - at 23 he would be required to enlist. Officials forbid that he be photographed at the hostel where he is resident, so was photographed in open air, with the Eiger behind.

He has just been placed in the pristine Alpine village of Grindelwald, and was photographed with the Eiger behind.
